Anime Lovers' Favorite Spots in Tokyo and its Suburbs! 3 holy land pilgrimage spots

Anime is a traditional Japanese culture.
After enjoying the works of anime, visiting the places where they took place is like reliving the story.
In this issue, we would like to introduce some places where you can easily go on a day trip from Tokyo to visit the holy places!
1.Hakone City, Kanagawa【Neon Genesis Evangelion】

Hakone is popular for sightseeing and easy to reach from Tokyo, including day trips to hot springs.
To my surprise, Hakone is the model for the “Third New Tokyo City,” the setting of the Neon Genesis Evangelion story.
On the first floor of Hakone-Yumoto Station, which is easy to visit, there is a store called “Eva Store” where you can find Evangelion goods. A life-size Ayanami Rei doll welcomes you to this Japanese-style store. It is a must for fans of the work.â
In addition, at the Momotodai Station, there is a 2-meter large first plane and NERV-inspired wrapping, which will surely immerse you in the world of the work!

The entire town is the setting for the artwork, so just wandering around the town is enjoyable, but the motifs are well displayed, making it a recommended spot for even more enjoyment.

2.Chichibu City, Saitama【Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day】

This is the old Chichibu Bridge, which is the main visual of the work! This bridge is the Old Chichibu Bridge, which is also the main visual of the work. The entire town is also the setting for the work, so you can walk around and take in the sights as you go.

Jorinji Temple, which appears in the opening and in the work, is really just as it was in the work, with the monks' signs and the designs on the pillars, making you feel as if you are back in that summer.
Since it is the official stage of the work, there are also ema (votive picture tablet) of Menma and other items, so you can enjoy the temple twice.

The secret base is a must-see on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land! You can enjoy the exact scene where the Chouheiwa Busters once gathered. The fact that it is not listed in the official tourist guidebooks is also a good thing, as it gives you a sense of the secret base.
You can also see the staircase that was used as the key visual for the movie, the railroad crossing that appears many times in the movie, and the hill where the final emotional scene took place.
Events related to Anohana are also held regularly, so be sure to check them out.

3.Tokyo Gajoen, Gunma Sekizenkan【Spirited Away】

Gajoen is said to be the model for the “bathhouse” where the story unfolds.
It is open to public tours free of charge and photography is permitted, so you can preserve your memories while immersing yourself in the artwork.
The “Hyakudan Staircase,” designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is also located here, making it an enjoyable enough place to visit simply for sightseeing.

At Sekizenkan in Gunma Prefecture, you can see the bridge that was the model for the red bridge in the film.
You can see this bridge even if you do not stay overnight, but if you stay overnight, you can furthermore go through the tunnel in the museum.
It is said to be the model for the “tunnel” that led visitors to wander into a mysterious world, so it is worth a visit!
