I have selected a wide range of ramen restaurants, from famous to obscure, that you must visit when you visit Shinjuku for fun or sightseeing!
From ramen restaurants recommended for lunch that are easy to go in alone to late-night closing ramen, we introduce a wide variety of flavors and genres of ramen.
1. Chuka Soba Rukawa

3-minute walk from Shinjuku Nishiguchi Station, the cozy “Chinese Soba Nagarekawa” is a popular ramen restaurant reminiscent of a national cartoon.
The name and logo are reminiscent of a national cartoon, but it is no exaggeration to say that the ramen is also a national delicacy.

The most popular ramen is the shoyu soba (soy sauce noodle), priced at 1,250 yen.
The soup is made from beef bones, chicken bones, and shellfish stock, and the flavor spreads in your mouth as soon as you put it in.
The low-temperature-cooked chashu pork is mild and juicy, and the more you bite into it, the juicier it gets.
The rich yet refreshing taste makes you want to have it for lunch as well.

2.Mensho Taketora Hon Ten

A 3-minute walk from Seibu Shinjuku Station, “Take-Tora” is a ramen and tsukemen restaurant where you can eat in a private room.
The most popular dish is “Ura Take-Tora Ramen. The “Ura-Taketora Ramen & Tsukemen Tonkotsu” soup is an ultra-thick broth without the distinctive smell of pork, and once you try it, you will become addicted to it.
For those who prefer a refreshing taste, we recommend the “Yuzu Seafood Tonkotsu Tsukemen”. The vegetables that go well with the seafood are simmered over a long period of time to bring out the sweetness of the vegetables while bringing out the flavor of the seafood, and the freshness of the citrus fruit adds a thick yet refreshing aftertaste.
The trendy “Shio no Kombu Sui Tsukemen” is also light, but with a rich seafood finish, making every menu item highly satisfying.

3.Wakura Shinjuku Ten

Located a 6-minute walk from the East Exit of Shinjuku Station, Wagura is a Hakata tonkotsu ramen restaurant.
The authentic Hakata tonkotsu (pork bone) soup, which is prepared for 100 hours, and the ultra-thin noodles made of Japanese wheat, are the special characteristics of this ramen, which has a strong and authentic flavor.
It is not too fatty and has a light aftertaste despite its richness, and once you try it, you will want to eat it again.
The noodles are thin and you can choose how hard you want them, and the price is reasonable at 100 yen for a second helping! It is open 24 hours a day, which is great for those who love pork bones.

4.Dame na Rinjin Ningyocho Ten

The concept of this restaurant is street-style ramen, and you can feel the street spirit in the interior.
The chef, who has a French background, uses his own technique to carefully handle honjozo dark soy sauce and bouillon de régume, and creates a variety of customizable ramen noodles by paying close attention to the ingredients.
The eggs and nori are all-you-can-eat, and you will be tempted to add as many toppings as you like.

The most popular ramen is the SUPREME Ramen, a special soy sauce-based ramen with the unforgettable smell of ginger.
We recommend the set with rice topped with Japanese black beef.

5.Sugoi Niboshi Ramen Nagi Shinjuku Golden Gai Ten Honkan

Located in Golden Gai, a 6-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, is Nagi, which serves nibbly niboshi ramen that is as strong as if you were nibbling on dried sardines.
Nagi's unique blend of more than 20 kinds of dried sardines, carefully selected by visiting Ibukijima Island in the Seto Inland Sea and other production areas throughout Japan, is exquisitely balanced with 5 tastes (sweet, savory, salty, bitter, and sour).
The guts of the dried sardines are removed by hand, one by one, to bring out the full flavor of the fish without its characteristic tartness and bitterness.
The noodles come in two types, extra-thick flat noodles and slightly thicker, frizzier noodles, and are a wonderful way to enjoy different textures and chewiness.
The rich taste of niboshi (dried sardines) is just right to enjoy with sake or to finish off a drink, and it fits in well with the Golden Gai location.
Once you try it, you will never forget the rich flavor of niboshi, so please give it a try.
